The 14-year old boy who died in a dirt bike accident in Denton County has been identified. Jonathon Bell, 14, of Decatur, died at about 12:10 Sunday at the Rocky Ridge Ranch.
Bell and his brother were riding dirt bikes Sunday at the Rocky Ridge Recreation Ranch near Sanger on Highway 51 when Jonathon lost control of his dirt bike and skidded into a wooden area.
“They were racing back and forth he came around and he kind of lost control on a turn he had to do and he flew into the woods,” saidTrenton Sprabary who was also riding in the area. “His friend was behind and he just jumped off the bike and his bike rolled. His buddy was limping.”
Bell was wearing a helmet when the Emergency Medical Services arrived around 12:30 p.m. and found the teen unresponsive. Bell didn’t have on any other protective gear. Dan Lintner, a forensic death investigator with Denton County said, “The more protective gear you wear the better it is.”
