Seguin, TX — An accident involving a school bus, a big rig and a PT Cruiser sent three people to the hospital. The incident occurred on Highway 123 when a PT Cruiser moved to the shoulder of the highway to allow an 18-wheeler to pass. Evanston, IL –The manager of A.J. Mini-Mart and his girlfriend, an employee at the same store and the adjacent A.J. Wireless store, were arrested on charges of fraud and possession of stolen property. Usama Bawazir, 27, and Jennifer M, Mahmood, 22, allegedly accepted cash in exchange for illegitimate LINK card transactions. The pair are accused of stealing electronic items, along with one felony count of public aid wire fraud. Costa Mesa, CA –Costa Mesa police conducted a checkpoint this weekend that resulted in eight DUI arrests. The checkpoint was conducted on Harbor Boulevard and Peterson Place between the hours of 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday. Altogether almost 300 vehicles were screened and about 2,500 vehicles went through the checkpoint. Seven people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and one person was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. New York —An accident on the Bronx River Parkway resulted in the deaths of seven people including three children on Sunday afternoon. Maria Gonzalez was driving her Honda Pilot south at 68 mph when she bumped a concrete barrier separating the north and southbound lanes. Chicago, IL –A five-year-old boy who was taken from a St. Louis hospital by his father was found in a hotel near Chicago, and his father was arrested. Porter Stone has congestive heart failure, and is a candidate for a heart transplant. He was being discharged from the hospital to his mother who has custody of the boy when his father took him.
