Randall Yancey, 40, apparently shot and killed his wife, Theresa Yancey, 46, and daughter 8-year-old Madison Yancey on Friday night, and then killed himself, according to Fountain Valley police Sgt. Eric Orahood.
The couple were in the midst of divorce and authorities believe Randall Yancey was upset over a child custody dispute.
The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. Friday in the driveway of a home in the 9900 block of Dandelion Circle.  Police were called by people inside the residence who reported a family fight and gunshots.

Nancy Grace, TV host, has ended a legal battle with the family of a woman who committed suicide a day after recording an appearance on her current affairs show.
The guest was Melinda Duckett and she committed suicide in 2006 just 24 hours after she recorded a phone interview with Grace about the disappearance of her two-year-old son, Trenton.
The lawsuit was filed by Duckett’s relatives, alleging Grace had inflicted “emotional distress” during the phone chat by asking a series of probing questions.  Police have said that Duckett was their lead suspect.

Investigators are trying to determine if a body found at the University of California, Irvine campus was that of a 23-year old UCI student missing since Saturday.
Hikers discovered the man’s body with a plastic bag over his head and suspected to have committed suicide according to UCI spokeswoman Laura Rico.  The man’s body was found near the campus observatory.
Earlier on Thursday, UC Irvine authorities asked for the public’s help in locating Mahesh Mahadevan, who was last seen leaving his Palo Verde apartment on the UCI campus about 5 a.m. Saturday.
