Houston, TX –Three men have been arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault after beating up an employee of a Midtown bar. Grant Woodruff, Joseph Arcidiacono and Steven Weil were all charged with the crime.  The incident occurred at The Celtic Garden bar in the 2300 block of Louisiana on Dec.20. Leoni Township, Mich.—  Ten people were injured when an Amtrak train hit a semitrailer that was stuck on the tracks in southern Michigan.  The train which was traveling from Pontiac, Michigan to Chicago had 68 passengers and 5 crew members.  After the train struck the semitrailer, the engine came to rest on its side and the first two train cars derailed.  Seven passengers, the driver of the truck, the train engineer and another crew member were injured in the accident.  None of the injuries was thought to be life-threatening.  All …

Glenview, IL –A Costco store was closed and two people were injured when a pipe containing Freon was broken inside the store.  Firefighters were called to the 2900 block of Patriot Blvd. when some store workers broke a pipe containing Freon in the bakery department.  The store was closed and two employees were taken to Glenbrook Hospital.  Costco was able to repair the pipe and the store was reopened around 4 p.m.  Building inspectors were called to the scene.  Freon displaces oxygen and is something you do not want to …

Miami, FL –  An American Airlines flight from Brazil to Miami experienced such severe turbulence that six crew members were injured.  Two hours after take off, American Airlines Flight 980 unexpectedly hit turbulence that took the crew by surprise.  Some of the crew smashed against the ceiling.  One crew member was hit by a food cart that flew up into the air.  Many of the passengers were screaming and crying. Temple, TX — A school bus flipped on its side after being hit by a tractor-trailer, sending 29 children and 3 adults to the hospital on Tuesday. The accident occurred on Farm-to-Marker Road 93 at about 7:30 a.m.  A hardware truck ran a stop sign and struck an Academy school district bus.  The bus driver was knocked unconscious and a 9-year-old boy was ejected through the escape hatch in the bus roof.  Out of the 29 children taken to the hospital, three were admitted.  One child was in critical condition.  …

Anaheim, CA — After an employee was injured last week, Disneyland officials are investigating the safety of its fireworks display.  Technical issues have caused Disneyland to cancel its fireworks six times in the past week.  Last Thursday, an employee was injured when the fireworks detonated prematurely while employees were getting ready for the fireworks display that evening.  The employee suffered ear damage and was taken to the hospital by paramedics.  Engineers and pyrotechnic experts are examining the equipment.  State investigators will also perform an inspection to make sure everything is …
