The commissioners of the Oregon Liquor Control Commission held a special meeting Saturday afternoon regarding the recent FDA ruling concerning alcoholic energy drinks.
The meeting was held in Miliwakee, OR and commissioners voted to approve a temporary ban on caffeinated alcohol beverages.
The temporary ban on alcoholic energy drinks like Joost and Four Loko, goes into effect Saturday and will continue through May 18th or until a permanent rule can be drafted and adopted.
Comissioners are concerned about the health effects of the combination of caffeine and alcohol.

Pfizer has announced that it intends to recall approximately 38,000 bottles of atorvastatin calcium (Lipitor) 40 mg tablets, distributed in the U.S.
The drug is being recalled because of customer reports of an uncharacteristic odor related to the bottles in which these lots of Lipitor were packaged. The bottles were supplied by a third-party bottle manufacturer.
“A medical assessment found the risk of health consequences to patients appears to be minimal,” Pfizer said.

Munchkin Inc. and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recalled 34,000 toy submarines because they have been damaging to some little boys private parts.
The CPSC states, “this recall involves battery-operated bathtub submarine toys. The toy is yellow, has a smiling face, turquoise windows, an orange propeller and an orange periscope that turns the toy on and off. Dough Masters Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), voluntarily recalled Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Chocolate Chunk Cookies due to allergen hazards associated with them.
The reason for the recall occurred after it was discovered that walnuts were not included in the product’s ingredient list. The recall was announced on Friday, September 17, 2010.
All lots of Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Chocolate Chunk Cookies are affected by the food safety recall, according to reports.

Parents love bounce houses and children love bouncing in them. However, according to Attorney General Jerry Brown of California, it may also be toxic.
A lawsuit was filed on Wednesday by Mr. Brown’s office and claims that some of the inflatable bounce houses that help entertain young children at parties have unsafe levels of lead, sometimes dozens of times the federal limit.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health warned the people of L.A. County Tuesday of two nationwide food recalls linked to salmonella. The tainted products are for certain eggs shipped from Wright County Egg company of Galt, Iowa and frozen mamey pulp fruit from COCO S.A. of Guatemala, according to a statement by the department

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on August 3, 2010, the recall of bunk beds over an entrapment hazard the product poses. Pottery Barn Kids is a division of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. and voluntarily recalled the bunk beds with the CPSC.
