Sacramento, CA –Two men were standing near a parked car when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver on Thursday.  Paul Pellandini, 54, was walking his friend, William Collins, 57, to his car that was parked in front of Pellandini’s house when they were hit by some type of Ford.  The accident occurred in the 1500 block of Winding Way near Carnegie Way about 5:45 p.m.  Pellandini was pronounced dead at the scene and Collins suffered major injuries and was taken to Mercy San Juan Medical Center. Oakland, CA –A 40 feet tall tree fell across all the lanes of southbound Highway 13, causing an accident that killed a UC Berkeley Honor student.  The accident occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. just south of the Park Boulevard off-ramp.  A Toyota Camry carrying four students hit the tree and stopped. San Diego, CA — Three people were injured on Monday night in a crash that occurred on Interstate 5 in Torrey Hills.  Two women who were visiting from out of town were driving an SUV southbound on the I-5.  They entered the HOV lanes thinking it was the off-ramp for Carmel Valley Road and crashed into the HOV wall. 48 year old Canton Resident, James Pressley, was ejected from his vehicle after being involved in a two car accident early friday morning. Pressly was pronounced dead at the scene.
