Chicago, IL — A father of two young daughters drowned on Saturday after his kayak rolled over in a retention pond near Des Plaines.  Anthony Hensley, 37, worked for Knox Swan and Dog LLC, a company that puts birds at ponds to control the goose population.  They also use dogs to chase geese away from golf courses, ponds and other properties.  Hensley had worked at that pond for ten years.  Authorities think that aggressive swans may have contributed to the kayak turning over.  A witness saw Hensley try to swim …

San Diego, CA –A 16-year-old boy turned himself in after being notified that he was to be arrested for his participation in a crash that killed two passengers last week. The boy was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and other charges.   The suspect was allegedly racing another car being driven by 18-year-old Michael S. Detroit, Michigan — A battery exploded at the GM Tech Center battery research lab injuring six people Wednesday morning.  Firefighters responded to a call around 9 a.m. that there was an explosion at the lab. Fumes from hydrogen sulfide caused the explosion which blew out a thick door.  At least 80 people were evacuated from the building.  One man suffered a concussion and chemical damage to his skin and was taken to St. John Hospital.  GM conducts tests on batteries for current and future use at the tech center. San Diego, CA –A 72-year-old woman’s leg was broken when a man backed his vehicle into her.  The 48-year-old man was backing into a parking space at his apartment complex, when he hit the accelerator instead of the brake and struck the woman with his Corvette.  The accident occurred in the 3800 block of Georgia Street at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday.  The police arrested the driver of the Corvette for suspicion of felony driving under the influence.  He was booked into county jail.  If you have been arrested for …

Minnesota– A 41 year old Monticello man was driving under the influence on eastbound interstate 94 when he crashed his car into the center median. The man then got out of his car and attempted to run across the westbound lanes of the I-94. He was struck by oncoming traffic and transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The woman driving the car that struck him was not injured in the accident. Luckily there were no serious injuries as a result of this accident.

Brooklyn, N.Y. –The partial collapse of a building in Brooklyn killed one construction worker and injured three others.  The incident occurred on Frank Court near Seba Avenue around 11 a.m. Tuesday.  The house was undergoing renovations when the collapse happened.  A 25-year-old construction worker was trapped under the debris and died a short time later.  Three other workers suffered minor injuries.  The Department of Buildings is investigating the collapse and whether the building will be raised.  OSHA inspectors are also on the scene.  If you have been involved in a …

Orlando, FL — Two pedestrians were hit by a SUV on Monday night when they tried to cross Orange Blossom Trail.  A 44-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl stepped into the path of the vehicle.  The young girl, Lisa Le, was dragged about 150 feet.  The woman, Cuc Le, possibly the girl’s mother was seriously injured.  The girl was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children where she died.  The driver of the SUV, Jorge Rivera Ortiz, 51, was uninjured in the accident.  The crash is under investigation.  If you …
