The tire of the SUV stopped mere inches from the baby’s head
The community of San Diego suffered a tragic loss as a woman pushing a stroller was struck down by a Toyota SUV.
Around 11:45 a.m., at the intersection of Camino del Sur and Verrazzano, a woman in her mid-20s was smashed into as she was pushing the baby she cared for across the street. This nanny, suffering the worst of the accident, was immediately given CPR by a bystander, but sadly was unable to be resuscitated and was eventually pronounced dead at Scripps Memorial Hospital.
As for the 13-month-old child strapped in the stroller, the baby boy was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital to be treated for critical injuries. Additional details of the accident, including the woman’s name and the present status of the child have not been released.
Investigators have still not determined who is at fault for this fatal accident, but the chances of it being neither are unlikely. People need to be held accountable when their errors result in injury and in this case, death.
