Riverside, CA –Two people were killed and two others were critically injured when a car hit them as they were waiting at a bus stop. The accident occurred on Friday at about 1:00 p.m. near the West Valley Shopping Center. The driver of a vehicle was traveling westbound on Magnolia, when he lost control of his car, went up the curb, smashed into a light pole and then hit a bench where four people were waiting for the bus. Melissa Bernal, 28, and Aniya Mitchell, 7, were pronounced dead at the scene. The other two people, a man and a woman, were taken to the hospital in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle was detained by police, but it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a part in the accident. Police are continuing an investigation into the crash.
