Provo, UT — A judge ruled that a man whose wife put their baby up for adoption without his knowledge will get custody of his daughter. Terry Achane has been fighting this legal battle for almost two years. Achane was an Army drill instructor when his child was adopted. The adoptive parents, Jared and Kristi Frei have 60 days to return Teleah who is now 21 months old. Achane asked the adoptive parents to drop any new legal action. Teleah’s mother, Tira Bland, and Achane were married when she became pregnant. The couple began to have marital problems just before he took a job as a drill instructor in South Carolina. Bland stayed in Texas to have the baby, but Achane expected her to go to South Carolina after the baby was born. She never went and Achane was unable to get any information about his baby. It was not until June 2011, that Achane learned that Bland had given the baby to the Adoption Center of Choice in Utah. Now, after a long fight, he will receive his daughter back.
