Altadena, CA —Two police helicopters collided on Saturday injuring five officers and one civilian. Investigators believe the accident occurred when the rotator blades of a chopper that was landing hit the blades of one that was taking off. There was extensive damage to both choppers. The collision happened at a helipad in Altadena around 4:00 p.m. The injured, a pilot and observer in each Bell OH-58A helicopter, and two officers on the ground, were taken to the hospital. One helicopter was on routine patrol and the other one was headed to the Rose Bowl to monitor traffic around the UCLA-USC Football game. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the accident. If you have suffered an injury in an accident, contact a Los Angeles personal injury attorney to review your case.
