Toddler injured by table at home
A 3-year-old boy in Lehi, Utah was in critical condition on Tuesday morning after an accident in his home.
According to Lt. Darren Paul with the Lehi Police Department the boy’s mother called 911 because the boy was turning purple and having trouble breathing. The boy and his 18-month-old sibling were playing in a room with a fold-able metal table with legs that fold underneath like scissors. While playing with the table the children somehow knocked down the table and their mother heard the crash and responded. She checked on them and both children were fine.
Some time later the mother returned to check on her children and found that the 3-year-old had sandwiched himself between the legs and the table, so the table was pressing down on his chest, and the 18-month-old was on top of the table forcing the table into the toddler’s chest.
According to Paul, the toddler was sent to a hospital in Salt Lake City by a medical helicopter. Detectives were at the hospital to try and get more details about the incident from the mother.
The accident is still being investigated.
“The story is consistent with the evidence we have, but we just want to be thorough and make sure that we look at all the possibilities,” he said.
