Two police officers injured in auto accident in Houston Texas
An auto accident in southwest Houston, Texas injured to Houston Police Department officers. The accident occurred on Monday, May 10, 2010 at approximately 4:00 a.m., at the intersection of Westpark and Tanglewilde, according to reports.
According to reports, the patrol car with the two police officers was traveling westbound on Westpark when they collided with a SUV in the Tanglewilde intersection. The SUV, a blue Ford Escape, was traveling eastbound on Tanglewilde when it collided with the patrol car. The SUV turned into the front of the cruiser T-boning it.
It is not clear who had the green traffic light at the time of the collision according to officials reports. The patrol car did not have its lights or sirens engaged when they crossed through the intersection.
Firefighters responded to the accident scene and removed both officers from the wrecked vehicle. The officers were then transported by ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment. Neither of the officers have life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV and his 2-year-old passenger were uninjured in the accident. A sobriety test was given to the SUV driver and he passed all tests.
The accident is still under investigation.
