Cubs fan suffers injuries after falling at baseball game

29 April 2010 2 Comments

An unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, was attempting to catch foul balls, when he fell 14 feet from his lower level seats to the field below.  The accident occurred on Sunday about and hour before the beginning of the baseball game at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin between the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs.

Reports state the the man was in his lower level seats near the left field line trying to catch foul balls during the Cubs batting practice.  The unidentified man was apparently a Cubs fan as he was dressed in Cubs apparel.  He fell 14 feet when he tried to catch a foul ball by reaching over the rail.  He went over the railing and fell head first onto the field 14 feet below.

The emergency responders were there to transport him off the field where he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Brewers spokesperson, Tyler Barnes, would not release specific details of the incident or the injuries to the man due to privacy laws.  Head Athletic director for the Brewers noted the injured fan did sustain lacerations to his face but was conscious when receiving medical transport.

The accident is still under investigation and a current condition status on the injured fan had not been released.

I’m guessing this guy couldn’t make it past tee ball and he was living out his dream to catch a baseball. What a dork. I wonder if he brought his glove to the game or if he was trying to barehand the balls Kevin Mitchell style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuIl3SABmiQ

The man who fell is in his early 40’s and he is currently still hospitalized in critical condition. He broke both legs, both arms, has an injury to his aorta, along with other injuries. He is not responding to current treatment at this time. He had cardiac arrest last night but hospital staff was able to revive him. He needs surgery but due to other complications can not get that done at this time. Send healing thoughts to Stuart S. He is from the Fox Cities area and a family friend.
