MARSHFIELD –  A man is dead after he was hit by a car while riding his bike near Green Harbor Marina in Marshfield.

Police say 69-year old Richard L. Campbell was crossing Dyke Road on a bicycle at about 10:30 a.m. when he was hit by a car driven by a woman in her early 20’s.

Campbell suffered massive head injuries He was taken to Governor Edward Winslow School by an ambulance and then airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Campbell was wearing shorts, a T-shirt and a baseball cap, and was not wearing a helmet according to reports.

No charges have been filed but police are investigating the accident.
