Bronx Woman Killed in Hit and Run Accident
A woman was killed when she was struck by a speeding car and knocked into the path of an oncoming minivan early Sunday.
The victim was identified as 20-year old Suzette Blanco who was home for the summer. Blanco tried to cross Third Ave. near E. 140th St when she was struck by a car. The impact pushed Blanco’s body onto the other lane where an oncoming red minivan struck her for the second time. She was taken to Lincoln Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The red minivan was found abandoned by police a few streets away from the accident. The driver of the minivan, Andrew Echevarria, 20, surrendered to the police a few hours later. He is charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a serious accident.
Police are still looking for the driver of the speeding car.
